Project:Carolwood Estate – a Single Family Residence
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
The Carolwood residence, an eight-million dollar estate, is located on a 2-acre lot with a 75 foot elevation transition to the rear of the site. The estate is a renovated, late 1920’s Mediterranean Villa with a 2,000 sq. ft. addition to the already 14,000 sq. ft. home. The project is laid out in a series of terraces and walls that were part of the original design. The Villa was brought to life with subtropical plants, heavy use of accent color planting, brick, tile paving, whitewalls, fountains, and reflection pools, terra cotta pots and other colorful details.
Our scope of design work included: tennis court refurbishment; the new addition wing with a pool/spa area and tile deck veranda; new additions to lower verandas designed to take advantage of the dramatic views; resurfacing the entry driveway with herringbone brick, addition of a focal fountain and reflection pool; tiling the entry walk; adding a small fountain with an intimate indoor/outdoor relationship off the dining room; re-establishing the lower terraces with new plantings, lawn, ground covers, etc; refurbishing the arbor and staircases; and bringing the rose garden to life and adding brick inter-walkways. In addition, the 18” thick walls throughout the site were sandblasted and repainted. Extensive site lighting was used for aesthetic reasons as well as security.
